The American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting is one of the largest virtual geoscientific fairs taking place this year.
This year’s Fall Meeting of the AGU offers myStandards the opportunity to present the first results of the cooperative research with the Royal Netherlands Institute of Sea Research (NIOZ), which started in February 2020. The joint work on a reference material consisting of foraminifera has achieved solid results in the past months, due to the fact that the number of institutions working on this material has grown considerably.
The interest in this research arises from the immense importance of foraminifers for climate research.
Foraminifers build a variable but known amount of magnesium and its calcareous shell (CaCO3) depending on the water temperature. By determining the age of the sediment in which the foraminifers were found, the seawater temperatures of the past earth ages can be reconstructed.
Participate in the presentation on December 14th and take the opportunity to learn more about foraminifers.
